It is made from a sturdy plastic and bends quite a bit before it feels like  it is too far. It is painted on with a durable paint and should stand up to most weather with the exception of direct sunlight for too long and I mean like months or longer. I would be afraid it would fade if left where sunlight beats it  daily. It comes with holes on the top and bottom to mount it quickly and is impossible to miss if you put it in the open view of visitors. Mine is on the front door. I only write honest, truthful and unbiased reviews so people will have an optional place to read more about an item they are thinking about buying and want to hear from people  that actually have this and use it.
